Lichfield children have been getting tips from some of the country’s brightest young footballing stars.
England Under-21 players Jordan Henderson, Ben Marshall and Adam Smith visited the city as part of the FA Tesco Skills Programme.
Staged on an inflatable pitch outside the shop, children put their new skills into practice with small-sided games to end the day.
Stuart Pearce, manager of the England under-21 team, commented: “One of the resounding messages from the London 2012 Games was the idea of inspiring a generation.
“The FA Tesco Skills Programme is developing skills amongst 5-11 year olds now so that we grow the talent pool amongst this age group.
“We are committed to helping inspire children to try football and take part in the programme as one day they could be playing for England in a major tournament.”
