He will discuss the period, local connections and how it feeds his fiction when he appears at The Old Stables.

The event on October 16 at 7.30pm will also feature a book signing from the author, whose novels include Trator’s Blood, Devil’s Charge and Hunter’s Rage.

Ann Waller from the Lichfield Cathedral book shop said: “I am delighted to welcome Michael Arnold to talk about his recent books and feel sure they will find resonance with the people of Lichfield.

“As a city steeped in Civil War history and the Cathedral itself particularly badly battered by it, there is always interest in a fresh look at the events of the 1640’s and how they continue to inspire writers in the 21st Century.

“The ticket price will go towards the current restoration and conservation project of the Cathedral’s East End.”

Tickets cost £3 and are available in advance from the Cathedral book shop at No. 9 The Close or by calling 01543 306150.
