New women’s section for Burntwood and District Royal British Legion

A new women’s section of the Burntwood and District Royal British Legion is being launched.

Royal British Legion logoThe group of local women are calling on others to join their ranks at an autumn fair on October 27.

Taking place from 2pm to 4pm at the Scout Hut on Ironstone Road in Chase Terrace, the event will feature craft stalls, nail art and a raffle.

Sharon Banevicius, who will chair the women’s section, said: “We’d love people to come along to help kick-start our fundraising for former service personnel and their families who live in the area and also to get a taster of what we want to achieve as a RBL Women’s Section. We hope then, of course, that we’ll get lots of lovely local ladies to join us.”

Section Secretary Mary Danby added: “We’ve had a small steering group for just a short while but decided we’d nail our colours to the mast and get started with raising funds straightaway.

“We want the Women’s Section to make a real difference to families in need, but we want also to make it an enjoyable social group too.””

Anyone interested in joining the new branch can contact Sharon on 01543 270761.
