Tamworth MP vows to do his best for Hammerwich residents if boundary change goes ahead

Tamworth’s MP has said he will do his best for the people of Hammerwich if plans to move it from the Lichfield constituency are approved.

The Boundary Commission stuck with a plan to make the change after releasing its revised proposals for the make-up of electoral areas.

The move means that Hammerwich voters could be electing Tamworth’s MP instead of Lichfield’s, with Haywood and Hixon from the Stafford constituency replacing the ward.

“The Boundary Commission has made its decision which must now be ratified by Parliament,” explained Christopher Pincer, MP for Tamworth. “And given that the Lib Dems and Labour have indicated that they will not support any changes to the boundaries which currently give Labour an electoral advantage, it is entirely possible these proposals will never be implemented.

“However, if they are implemented, I will do my utmost to represent Hammerwich residents to the best of my ability, as I do for all my other constituents living in Lichfield District.

“I hold regular village surgeries around my constituency, hiring the local village hall so people can drop in for a cup of tea and a chat. And I leaflet homes with updates and my annual report. So I hope people will always find me helpful and approachable.”
