“I am very honoured and deeply touched to be nominated,” she said. ” Awards like this are a real motivator for the many hard working social workers out there.

“It’s a challenging job at times but there is a real sense of achievement when we see children placed with families who want to love and support them throughout their lives.

“Bringing up an adopted child is not easy as most of the children placed have experienced some level of trauma so we expect a lot from our adoptive families.”

Lyndsey was nominated for the award by Alexandra and Darren Alison for her dedication in helping the couple adopt two children and supporting them over the past few years.

“I had written a compliments letter after the excellent service that we had received from Lyndsey following the adoption of our first child,” said Alexandra. “Lyndsey was great and helped us through the adoption process and some challenging times following this.

“I read a tiny article asking for nominations for the BAAF award and Lyndsey naturally came to mind. I knew I had to nominate her.

“Throughout the seven years that we have known Lyndsey she has been consistently professional, reliable, and passionate about her job. I am delighted that she has been shortlisted.

“Thanks to the fabulous support from Lyndsey we now have our two gorgeous, precious daughters who have and continue to bring us such joy and rewards that are impossible to put into words.”

The winner will be announced at a ceremony in London on Tuesday.
