Lichfield Cathedral events to mark National Prisons Week

Lichfield Cathedral is set to continue an annual tradition of praying for the needs of prisoners and victims of crime.

A series of events and services are being organised as part of National Prisons Week, which runs from November 18 to 24.

The Very Rev’d Adrian Dorber, Dean of Lichfield, explained that the week was a key part of the Cathedral’s calendar.

“Our justice system is a reflection of the kind of society we are,” he explained. “Prisons Week gives us the opportunity to learn more, to remember Jesus’ compassion for those in trouble, and to find out what we can do to give practical help and support to our prison system.”.

The programme will include:

  • November 18, 10.30am – Sung Eucharist with Preacher Lloyd Cooke.
  • November 18, 1pm – Prisons Week Interactive, a free interactive seminar with a focus on community chaplaincy.
  • November 16-23 – Prisons Week Exhibition, featuring displays from local community chaplaincy projects in Walsall, Stoke and Lichfield.

To book the Prisons Week Interactive go online to download an application form.
