The Alice in Wonderland cast reading through the script

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the Lichfield Garrick as rehearsals start for their Christmas musical production of Alice in Wonderland.

The full cast and production team have met for the first time and spent their first day together reading through the script together and going through musical numbers and scene changes.

The cast, headed up by star of screen and stage Steve Huison, will be rehearsing every day until the start of the show on December 6.

Steve Huison, who is playing the White Rabbit, said: “It’s great to get started on the rehearsals as I’m really excited to be part of this production.

“There’s a great team here at the theatre and we’re all working well together already. I came to Lichfield earlier in the year when we launched Alice in Wonderland and I’m looking forward to seeing more of it.”

The production will also feature a musical score brought to life live on stage by a circus band.

Adrian Jackson, Lichfield Garrick’s Chief Executive and Artistic Director, added: “Once again we have a great cast with us and were delighted to welcome them to the Lichfield Garrick.

“This year’s production is our biggest and most ambitious yet. We’ve made a great start with rehearsals and I know our audiences will love the end result.”

The cast of Alice in Wonderland will also be turning on Lichfield’s Christmas lights tonight (November 22) at 7pm.

“Tickets are selling fast with 25 performances sold out and 11 performances where we only have a few seats available, so book your tickets quick to avoid disappointment,” continued Adrian.

Alice in Wonderland will run at the Lichfield Garrick from December 6 until January 6, with a variety of schools, matinee and evening performances. Tickets cost from £12.50 for children and from £20 for adults. To book contact Lichfield Garrick Box Office on 01543 412121 or visit www.lichfieldgarrick.com.
