Striker Mark Webb completes move to Lichfield City FC

Former Spalding United striker Mark Webb has signed for Lichfield City FC.

The forward, who has also been on the books of professional clubs Leicester City and Yeovil Town, will has agreed to join Paul Holt’s Midland Combination Premier Division side.

A number of clubs had been trying to entice Webb back after an injury had left him sidelined, but Holt admits he’s delighted to secure the striker’s signature.

“It’s a bit of a coup as a number of clubs were chasing him, but his connections with our first team coach Simon Bell swayed it in our favour as they played together at Spalding.

“It will come in handy for the run in to have extra firepower in the squad, as with the recent weather we will have a backlog of fixtures to get through.”

Webb could make his debut in Lichfield’s home game against Castle Vale JKS tomorrow (February 9), kick-off 3pm.
