A Lichfield accountancy  firm has raised £2,245 for St Giles Hospice.

The charity was chosen as Inspired Accountants’ good cause of choice for 2012 after a number of staff experienced first hand the care that they provide.

Managing director Paul Bulzacchelli saw his grandfather admitted to the hospice.

“The nursing care received from St Giles was incredible,” he said. “All the nurses and staff were extremely caring and provided the very best support.

“We are very fortunate to have St Giles serving the local area and although they receive some funding from the Government it is incredible that they are so heavily reliant on donations and fundraising efforts.”

The company has since embarked on a year-long fundraising effort.

In June they entered a team of six ladies into the nine-mile Solstice Walk, raising £755. This was followed in September when Jude Rothschild ran the Blackpool Half Marathon raising £430 along the way. Finally in November, the practice hosted the first of what will be an annual general knowledge quiz and raised £1,060.

In addition to St Giles Hospice, Inspired Accountants also supported Diabetes UK by sponsoring a 107-mile cycle challenge, which started at Four Ashes in Staffordshire and went through Ironbridge, The Wrekin and Much Wenlock before finishing in Church Stretton.

Paul added: “We are all really grateful for the sponsorship donated by our clients, friends and associates, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them all because without their generous support we would not have been able to raise so much.

“We have decided to continue to support St Giles Hospice in 2013 by again making them our designated charity for the year. More fundraising is planned and we have already scheduled our next quiz night for September 26.”
