Burglars have stolen cigarettes in a raid on a Burntwood post office.

Three hooded offenders forced their way into the Cannock Road building at around 5.15am on January 25.

They took cigarettes before leaving in a small car without any lights on.

And now detectives are looking into whether the raiders may have returned again.

DC Jamie Harris, investigating officer, said: “We would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time that witnessed this incident or saw the vehicle without its lights on.

“Overnight on February 19 to February 20 the Post Office was again targeted when offenders caused damage to the door. On this occasion no entry was gained and nothing was stolen.

“Whether or not these incidents are linked will form part of our investigation.”

Witnesses are asked to call DC Harris at Staffordshire Police on 01785235933 or 101, quoting incident number 64 of January 25. Alternatively, they can contact independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
