Brendan Brown

A new director of nursing has been appointed at Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The body – which oversees Samuel Johnson Community Hospital in Lichfield – has seen Brendan Brown move from the head of nursing post at Derby Hospitals.

Starting his career as a Staff Nurse in both surgery and medicine, he developed his skills and knowledge and held various senior positions in oncology and specialist palliative care. He has also managed community hospital services and held head of nursing positions for cancer, rehabilitation and acute medical services.

“I’m very pleased to accept this appointment,” he said. “I am committed to ensuring the best possible experience of care is available to patients and their relatives in all aspects of our services.

“I am also keen to work alongside our staff in enabling their professional development, and continuing the work already in place here to enable this.”

Chief Executive Helen Ashley added: “I am really pleased to welcome Brendan to the Trust. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience in healthcare which will help us to continue to improve the quality and safety of the care we provide to our patients.”
