Lichfield Arts has announced the appointment of Dave Simcox as its new director.

He will take over the role from Chris Newcombe, who stepped down at the end of 2012.

Dave has been a regular volunteer with the organisation for many years and had previously been the chairman of trustees, before relinquishing the role to apply for his new position.

Brian Pretty, President of Lichfield Arts, said: “We are delighted to have Dave on board as our new director.

Amongst his many contributions to date, Dave launched and took part in the first ever Lichfield Buskathon, a highly successful fundraising event for the charity and has been a key organiser of the annual Fuse festival held in Beacon Park.

“Music and the arts have always been a part of my life and so being involved with Lichfield Arts has always given me great pleasure,” Dave explained.

“To be selected as the new director at a key turning point for the organisation is a real privilege as the charity moves to develop and expand its offering in the coming years.

“I intend to devote myself fully to developing Lichfield Arts further as a major arts organisation in Lichfield District, presenting events and festivals for both residents and visitors alike and helping to boost the local economy.”
