Parents across Lichfield and Burntwood have found out whether they have secured a place for their children at their chosen secondary schools.

Staffordshire County Council say nine out of ten of the 8,185 applications have been allocated their first choice, while 99 per cent have been given a spot at one of their top three choices.

County Councillor Ian Parry said: “Obviously parents want the very best for their children, so we try to accommodate their wishes as far as is practicable.

“Working with schools in Staffordshire and in neighbouring authorities, means we can allocate school places efficiently and, in the vast majority of cases, allocate parents one of their top three preferred schools.”
