There is still time for volunteers to sign up for a conservation day in Lichfield.

Lichfield District Council’s Countryside & Parks Conservation Group (CPCG) is on the lookout for more volunteers to help at Christian Fields from 10.30am to 3pm tomorrow (March 6).

The group will be clearing footpaths and dead hedging at the event.

Chris Walsh, Countryside Manager for Lichfield District Council, said: “We hope to get plenty of volunteers along on the day to help us with this valuable conservation work.

“Hedges play an important role at Christian Fields, as they encourage birds, small mammals and insects to the Local Nature Reserve.”

Christian Fields is off Eastern Avenue (WS13 7JU). The group will meet at the top car park.

Ruth Witzack, Community and Educational Officer for Lichfield District Council, added: “We’re always keen to welcome new members to the group. If you’re joining us for this conservation day, remember to wear sturdy outdoor clothes and bring along gardening gloves.

“We’ll provide hot drinks and biscuits, but you’ll need to bring your own packed lunch.”

All over 18s are welcome. To book a free place, call Denice Deverall on 01543 308183 or email [email protected].
