Council to answer adoption questions in online chat

People considering adoption in Lichfield and Burntwood are being given the chance to have their questions answered.

Staffordshire County Council will be running a live Twitter discussion between 7pm and 8pm this evening (March 7) via its Twitter account, using the hashtag #Staffsadopt.

Jane Day, senior practitioner at the authority’s adoption service will lead the discussion.

Cllr Mike Lawrence, cabinet member for Children’s Wellbeing said: “We know that people who adopt go through a journey, often exploring the option after experiencing infertility. The Twitter chat is the chance for people to ask questions and find out more, about adopting a child or maybe even siblings, and the process involved without any pressure or commitment.

“We know there are a number of myths surrounding eligibility for adoption, so I would encourage anybody who has thought about it, but dismissed themselves for any reason to take part – they may find that they would be eligible to adopt after all.”

People who have already adopted are also being urged to join the discussion and share their experiences with prospective parents.
