Burntwood Leisure Centre

An Olympian will be visiting Burntwood to help mark International Women’s Day.

Team GB judo representative Sophie Cox will be at Burntwood Leisure Centre for an event offering a range of free taster sessions in activities such as Bokwa, street dance, table tennis and trampolining.

The event takes place on Sunday (March 10) between noon and 4pm. There will also be stalls featuring face painting, cake decorating and badge making.

Councillor Val Richards said: “To celebrate International Women’s Day, we are holding an event aimed at young women, who we want to help to get fit and healthy and have fun.

“This event is a great chance for local young women to come to the leisure centre to have a taster of many fun classes that we run, such as Bokwa, which is an energetic exercise routine to music. You don’t have to book any of the sessions, just turn up and have a go at the class on offer – but remember to bring your trainers.

“We’re so thrilled that the Olympic athlete, Sophie Cox, will be joining us to talk to and inspire local young women to get active.”
