A number of organisations across Lichfield and Burntwood are set for a funding boost.

A share of a £23,440 pot will be distributed to 29 groups by Lichfield District Council.

The money has been awarded in the form of small grants, ranging between £140 and £2,750, and will be used to support community projects.

Among the successful applications is Woodhouse Community Farm in Whittington, which is set to receive £700 to develop an outdoor space.

The council has also awarded the Alzheimer’s Society £1,300 to help the society bring ‘singing for the brain’ sessions to the district for the first time.

Helen Spearey from Lichfield District Council said: “Local groups are often best placed to deliver targeted services, and regularly attract other external funding, and so can deliver with a relatively small amount of support through our Grant Aid and Grant Aid Plus schemes.

“There was a good range of applicants this year, and it’s great to see that so many groups and organisations are working to make the district better for their local communities.”
