The development of a new bungalow on the site of the Olde Corner House Hotel at Muckley Corner has been rejected by planners.
Lichfield District Council told developers that the building represented “inappropriate development” in the Green Belt.
Plans for a three bedroom property had been drawn up, with part of the old hotel already having been converted into housing.
But in a refusal notice for this latest application for planning permission, the developer was told: “The development represents inappropriate development in the Green Belt which would, by definition result in harm to the Green Belt.
“Furthermore, it is considered that the information put forward by the applicant does not amount to very special circumstances which would outweigh the resultant harm by reason of inappropriateness or harm caused to the openness of the Green Belt.”
