An open day is offering people the chance to find out more about standing in the Staffordshire County Council elections.

Voters will go to the polls in May, but an event is being held in Stafford on Tuesday (March 26) for potential councillors to learn more about the process.

The open day will include tours of County Buildings and Staffordshire Place, as well as offering the chance to meet employees and find out more about the support they would receive.

There are three sessions at the open day:

  • 1pm to 3pm
  • 3pm to 5pm
  • 5pm to 7pm

Staffordshire County Council’s director of democracy, law and transformation John Tradewell said: “The sessions next week will give candidates standing in the May elections a chance to find out everything they need to know, from how scrutiny works to the ICT equipment we use.

“Taking on the role of a county councillor is a four-year commitment to the community and so we want to ensure the support is there for potential candidates before an election in addition to those who are successful after the election.”

Candidates wanting to book onto a session should contact Lynne Coates on 01785 276139 or email
