Lichfield business celebrates record-breaking year

A Lichfield trailer repair and maintenance firm are celebrating a record year.

Streethay-based Bullwell Trailer – which employs nearly 100 people – saw profits rise for the fifth year in a row, with the past 12 month seeming them increase turnover to a record £7.5million.

The company’s bosses have put the £1million year-on-year rise down to an investment in new technologies and facilities.

Managing director Gary Bulley said: “We maintain in excess of 5,000 trailers and look after a host of bluechip customers including DHL, TK Maxx and Royal Mail.

“Our main focus over the past seven years has been to bring quality to the trailer industry and we have done this by introducing bespoke vehicle diagnostic systems, keeping our vans updated to fit in with European emission standards, conducting regular health and safety checks, introducing more efficient services and operating frequent internal training courses.

“Operating a mobile service means we have engineers located across the length and breadth of the country meaning one of our engineers is never more than an hour away from any of our clients.

“We have also kept up with local servicing demand at our Lichfield headquarters by introducing an on-site authorised testing facility.”

Some 2,000 trailers, horse boxes and caravans have gone through the new facility in the city since it opened 18 months ago.
