Karting event to raise money for the Midlands Air Ambulance

A Lichfield fundraising event is hoping to bring in much needed money to support the work of lifesavers from the Midlands Air Ambulance.

Midland Karting at Fradley Park will host the race event on June 8.

Would-be Lewis Hamilton’s can test their skills in a series of team endurance races throughout the day.

Groups of up to six drivers can take part by paying the £125 entry, to help keep the vital lifesaving aircraft in the skies.

The work of the Air Ambulance will not be quickly forgotten by Burntwood woman Helen Turner.

She was in the final stages of her pregnancy when she began to suffer breathing difficulties at her home.

Helen was airlifted to hospital and stopped breathing during the flight, before being resuscitated by the on-board paramedics.

She has since fully recovered and brought new daughter Alexandria along to meet the medics who had saved their lives.

A spokesperson for Midland Karting said: “To ensure that these life saving air ambulances keep flying, Midland Karting is asking teams of friends, family or colleagues to enter the Midlands Air Ambulance Karting Event.”
