Call for performers to entertain the crowds at Lichfield Festival Market

Talented street performers are being invited to entertain the crowds at the Lichfield Festival Market.

The event takes place on July 6 and will feature more than 130 stalls.

As part of the experience, organisers are now keen to hear from a variety of performers who could help keep more than 20,000 visitors to Lichfield Cathedral Close busy during the day.

Performers in previous years have included Walsall Operatic Society, the Enigma Brass Band, Watershed Theatre Company, West Bromwich Operatic Society and the City of Lichfield Concert Band.

Co-ordinator Jennifer Smith said: “The Festival Market grows every year and is a spectacular annual showcase for many of the best local crafters and artists in our region.

“This year we welcome over 40 new stallholders bringing unique crafts and food to the city, as well as many new performers from across the region.”

Stalls include:

  • Cannock Dairies
  • Ultimate Fudge Outlet
  • Janbow Prints
  • Halfpenny Green Vineyard
  •  Lichfield Brewery

Other stalls will be displaying and selling jewellery, ceramics, art, wood carving and other crafts.

Niki Webster from sponsors Florette added: “As well as offering a mix of entertainment and shopping, the market will also feature fresh food demonstrations and competitions, so something for everyone.

“The Florette stand will be no exception to this and we’ll be injecting fun into salad making both in the run up to and during the festival. We’ll be sharing full details soon.”

Performers interested in getting involved in the event should email or call 01543 306275 for more information.
