The free monthly rides proved a popular draw last year and organisers are hoping for more of the same during 2013.

The first two rides set off from Beacon Park’s Swinfen Broun Pavilion on April 7.

The 3.5 mile trips will start at 11am and 1pm and give local cyclists the chance to find out what the intiaitive is all about.

Debby Whiting, from Freedom Cycles, said: “Going on a group ride is a healthy way to meet other people and to have fun.

“These shorter taster rides will be a great way of kicking off this year’s programme – we make sure the pace is suitable for all riders and that there are breaks on the way round.

“Some people will want to do just one ride while others might want to do both.”

A number of future rides are already planned including:

  • Whittington
  • Fradley Junction
  • The National Memorial Arboretum
  • Barton Marina

Participants can just turn up on the day with their bike, helmet and a picnic. A free safety check is also available on the day. Children under 16 of age must be accompanied by an adult.
