Burntwood racing driver James Tucker has picked up a championship point in his first appearance of 2013.

The stock car speedster’s previous outing had been snowed off, meaning that Coventry’s Brandon Stadium would be his first taste of action.

Despite having the opportunity to start towards the front, Tucker opted to head further back on the grid to get valuable laps in on the shale track – and it paid off as he finished in two qualifying heats before making the final.

He also enjoyed track time in the Grand National, where he was able to put his car through its paces and clock up valuable miles as he bids to make a mark on the BriSCA stock car series.

“I’m so happy,” the Burntwood driver said. “My first proper BriSCA F1 race meeting and with 66 other competitors and I finished all four races, collected my first championship point and picked up no damage along the way, which is no mean feet in a contact formula.

“We have a few changes we are going to make to the car which we believe should make it a bit better off the turn, as I struggled to get traction. There’s also a slight engine modification which should give us more power at the end of the straight, so I’m looking for another good meeting in three weeks when I will be traveling to King’s Lynn.”
