Former Premier League referee Alan Wiley is set to referee a charity game in Burntwood.

The Stephen Sutton Charity Day will take place on May 12 at The Scholars Ground and will feature two matches – West Bromwich All Stars v Brownhills & Shire Oak and Chasetown Latics versus Chasetown Bluebirds.

Mr Wiley will be joined by Lichfield referee Stuart Eagland for the games.

“I hope they don’t play at too fast a pace as I’ve retired from refereeing now,” the former Premier League ref joked.

One of the games will feature players and coaching staff from each of Chasetown’s memorable FA Cup runs.

“I hope it’s the Chasetown 2005 v Chasetown 2008 game that I get to referee,” added Mr Wiley. “The opportunity to book former manager Charlie Blakemore for dissent is too good an opportunity to waste!”

Tickets for the event – priced at £3 for individuals and £6 for a family ticket – and are available from Inspirations on Chasetown High Street.
