Double injury blow for play-off chasing Chasetown FC

Chasetown FC’s quest for a play-off place will have to take place without the talents of Jonathan Gould and Dave Bate.

The pair have been ruled out for the run-in, which continues with a trip to Brigg Town tomorrow (April 27).

Manager Craig Harris admitted losing the pair was a blow.

“Jono Gould went for a scan and, unfortunately, the results showed that we may be without him for quite a long time,” he told the club’s official website. “We are gutted for the lad as he has shown so much potential this season.

“We know he’ll come back stronger for this and look forward to seeing him back on the pitch sooner rather than later.

“We’ve had some great results recently, but losing Dave Bate through injury had been a big loss.

“Again, we hope Dave makes a good recovery over the summer and comes back stronger for it in the new season.”

Despite the double blow, Chasetown will be hoping to capitalise on their recently-acquired play-off spot.

They are still embroiled in a three-way battle for the final berth with Halesowen Town and Sutton Coldfield Town, although fourth-placed Stamford have now been dragged back into the fight as they lie just three points in front of the Scholars.

Harris will be hoping mid-table Brigg Town will see the game as a dead rubber, particularly because Sutton Coldfield Town will be hot favourites against basement side Hucknall Town.

Three points will be vital with Chasetown going into their final day of the season next week with an unenviable fixture against title-chasing Coalville Town.

Remaining fixtures:

April 27:
Brigg Town v Chasetown FC
Halesowen Town v Carlton Town
Stamford v Loughborough Dynamo
Sutton Coldfield Town v Hucknall Town.

May 4:
Coalville Town v Chasetown
Halesowen Town v Lincoln United
Mickleover Sports v Stamford
Sutton Coldfield Town v Leek Town
