A unique team of athletes will be joining the field for the Lichfield Half Marathon.
The event on Sunday (May 5) will feature a packed field of 1,300 competitors – including the Wolverhampton Bobsled Team!
The fundraisers will be pushing their vehicle around the course as part of their 2013 charity challenge.
Stuart Bailey from the team explained: “After the success of 2012 where we raised just over £5,200 pounds for our charity, we are aiming to match and even beat that this year.
“We are looking forward to seeing the people of Lichfield.
“We have a built in stereo with speakers and make a lot of noise.
“We will be there early to get ready and look forward to talking to people and posing for pictures.”
The route will see runners start the day at King Edward VI Leisure Centre at 10.30am before heading to Whittington and Fradley. The final stretch will see them pass Curborough Sprint Course before re-entering the city at Eastern Avenue on route to the finish at Stowe Field.
Kevin wilson, from organisers KP Events, added: “This is the third year and we hope it follows the pattern set in previous years with good weather and excellent turn out by the people of Lichfield, Whittington and Fradley.
“This year we have more entertainment than ever on Stowe Field with an exhibition, musicians, golf displays and other things too.
“It’ll be bigger and better than ever.”
