Lichfield City manager calls for for final push

Lichfield City FC manager Paul Holt wants his side to finish the season with a flourish.

The injury-ravaged side found their shooting boots to secure a midweek win against Stafford.

And now the manager wants more of the same when his players travel to Bolehall Swifts tomorrow (May 4) followed by a final day home game against the same opponents.

“We lost six of our first eight games and have lost six of our last 24, so the progress the club has made has been brilliant really,” he explained.

“But I’m still looking to back that result up at Stafford with another response against Bolehall in the last two games with a top six finish a possibility if we win them both.”

Holt admitted he had a heart-to-heart with his squad in the build-up to their final run of games after seeing their hopes of a top five finish fade away.

“It was a great performance on Tuesday, probably our best showing of the season,” Holt said.

“We had a long chat before the game on Saturday and we asked for the lads to give it their all for the last four games as it would have been such a shame for the season to end with a whimper after all the hard work they have put in.”
