Daniel Allinson led from start to finish to claim victory in the Lichfield Half Marathon.

The Leicester Corinthian AC man produced an impressive 1:12:26 time to see off the challenge of Lichfield Running Club’s Richard O’Sullivan and BRAT Club’s Brendan Fitzpatrick.

Meanwhile, the honour’s in the female race went to Spa Striders’ Jo Kirby in a time of 1:31:24.

Kevin Wilson, from organisers KP Events, said: “Once again fantastic weather shone on the event.

“The crowds round the route were bigger than ever, especially in Whittington, Fradley and the finish on Stowe Field where several hundred people turned out to cheer the runners home.

“It was a great event for the city and the area – we’re hoping it will be even bigger and better in 2014.”

As well as the elite race a number of charity runners also took place, including a team of soldiers from the Mercian Regiment who raised £2,000 for good causes.
