New technology is being introduced as part of a blitz on potholes across Lichfield and Burntwood.

Highways crews are now using a Roadmaster vehicle to help tackle the backlog of repairs caused by an extended period of winter weather.

The machinery blasts dust and debris from potholes before filling the potholes and spraying bitumen emulsion to seal them.

Cllr Simon Tagg, Cabinet Support Member for Transport, said: “Our highways crews are really pulling out all the stops to tackle the worst winter potholes and we have been doing our very best to fix as many as we can, as quickly as we can.

“Staffordshire is a vast county, so dispatching the Roadmaster is proving a great way to tackle those repairs which otherwise may take some time to get to.

“Although more potholes are being fixed than this time last year, it is an on-going challenge and I would ask people to bear with us as we carry out these repairs.”
