Copies of a best-selling book by acclaimed crime-writer P D James are on offer as part of the Lichfield Festival’s Big Read.

Death Comes to Pemberley has been chosen as this year’s featured title and will see local people able to grab a free copy.

Organisers hope that the books will be passed on once they have been read.

A number of copies are being distributed across the city, and the Tempest Ford garage on St John’s Street is joining in the fun by distributing the title to customers, ahead of the author’s talk at the Garrick Theatre on Monday (July 8).

A spokesperson said: “Death Comes to Pemberley is a sequel to Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice with a murder mystery disrupting the peace of the Darcy and Bennet households.”

People can pick up a copy of the book from Tempest Ford or the Lichfield Festival office. For more details visit lichfieldfestival.org.
