Bestselling author Dame Jacqueline Wilson will be talking about her work at the Lichfield Festival today.

With new book Hetty Feather and The Illustrated Mum hitting the shelves, the writer will also pay tribute to her “all-time favourite classic children’s author” E Nesbit at the Lichfield Garrick from 2pm.

Historian Tracy Borman will be at the George Hotel at the same time to examine the reality behind The Witches of Belvoir.

At 3.45pm the same venue will host a talk on God and Being by George Pattison.

Music fans can get their fix at the Lichfield Garrick from 8pm when pianist Phillip Dyson takes to the stage.

“It’s an evening of irresistible charm and sophistication, recreating the nostalgia and dazzling toe-tapping, stylish jazz of the 1920s and ‘30s, with music by Gershwin, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Scott Joplin and others,” a spokesperson explained.

The day’s other Festival event sees Base Tikes bring a double bill of Shakespeare plays to the Lichfield Guildhall at 2pm.
