Fun and great music will be on offer as the Burntwood Wakes Festival gets in full swing.

The free event kicks off this evening (July 19) with a night of tribute bands, include Abba soundalikes Swede Dreamz and Fab Four tribute act The Beatless.

Gates open Burntwood RUFC’s Sportsway ground at 6pm, although visitors are reminded that no alcohol is allowed to be brought along but a licensed bar will be open.

The fun continues from noon tomorrow when a family fun day will see displays from the MAD Team Mountain Bike group, National Festival Circus, Impact Dance Troupe and 2 Step Dance Academy. There will also be a range of activities on offer too.

On Saturday evening, the Burntwood Wakes Festival Proms will be performed by the Staffordshire Festival Orchestra from 6pm, culminating in a fireworks finale.

The Wakes concludes on Sunday with a folk concert featuring the likes of the AFT Band, Sons of Professor Longhair and The Staffordshire Men. Gates open at 1pm.
