A leading scientist has visited Lichfield to find out more about the life of Erasmus Darwin.

Nobel Prize winner and President of the Royal Society, Sir Paul Nurse, saw both statues of the city’s famous son during his tour.

He also visited the refurbished Erasmus Darwin House after being invited by Desmond King-Hele, the world’s leading authority on Erasmus.

At the Darwin Walk Trust statue, Sir Paul was met by Stephen George, chairman of the Darwin Walk Trust, while sculptor Peter Walker was on hand to talk about his creation when the group visited Beacon Park.
