Police have revealed more details about a crash near Burntwood which left four people in hospital.

Two vehicles were involved in the incident on the northbound carriageway of the M6 Toll at Chasetown at around 4pm yesterday (July 28).

Police say the two cars were an Audi A3 and a VW Polo, with a woman travelling in the Audi suffering serious head injuries.

She was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham where she remains in a critical condition.

“Staffordshire Police would like to express their thanks to the numerous motorists inconvenienced by the road closure put in place while specially-trained officers examined the scene,” a spokesperson said.

The incident also saw a boy and a teenage girl treated for minor injuries at Good Hope Hospital, while one of the drivers involved was sent to Walsall Manor Hospital for treatment.
