New Lichfield skate park project boosted after £35,000 grant is secured

Plans for a new skate park in Lichfield have been boosted after a £35,000 grant was awarded to the project.

Lichfield District Council were given the money towards the new facility on Bunkers Hill in Beacon Park by The Veolia Environmental Trust.

Councillor Val Richards, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure Services, said: “We are delighted to be awarded this grant by The Veolia Environmental Trust.

“The funding brings us a step closer to building a purpose-built skate park in Beacon Park.

“The new skate park will be a great addition to the city centre park, giving local skaters a facility they will be challenged by and will enjoy using. ”

Acting executive director of The Veolia Environmental Trust, Maria Cade, added: “Facilities like this one are so important to our communities, bringing about a number of health and social benefits.

“I look forward to hearing about the work starting.”

Good news for those that want it – but is it not just code for the tax payer is forced to give money to this project?

“£35,000 grant” Makes you think how we as kids managed to pass our time away, no doubt A&E will be kept on their toes. If it keeps the kids off the streets that would be something I suppose.

(To be honest, its been a busy week so make up your own sentence from those key words as I can’t be bothered to do it or read the story properly. Its all a waste and pandering to the work-shy probably anyway, even if it isn’t).
