A Lichfield garden centre is hoping to give its coffee shop a makeover.

The Plant Pot on Stafford Road has applied for planning permission to demolish its existing facility and replace it with a new one.

Two other buildings – a garage and unused propagation site – will also be removed if the proposals get the go-ahead.

A statement supporting the application said: “The replacement coffee shop will provide the nursery with a more socially accessible facility to allow people to
enjoy the Lichfield countryside.

“The position of the Coffee Shop relates well to the model allotment area behind the main retail unit where families can see practical gardening through the seasons and learn about growing and the environment from their experience of the nursery.

“The new coffee shop allows the Garden Nursery to become a visitor attraction for families, and provides customers a break from the retail side of the nursery, therefore making the whole experience more pleasant.”

Full details of the plan can be seen on Lichfield District Council’s planning website.
