Police hope Lichfield commuters can help trace CCTV man

Police are hoping commuters travelling to Lichfield can help them identify a man they want to speak to in connection with an assault on a train manager at Birmingham New Street.

The incident happened at around 5.55pm on June 12 and officers have now released a CCTV image in a bid to trace an individual.

PC James Hannan said: “A train manager popped his head out of the rear cab window as his train was departing from Birmingham New Street station.

“As he did so, he was struck on the head by a plastic bottle thrown by someone on the platform.

“Enquiries have been ongoing to find the person who threw the bottle but to no avail.

“I would now like to ask for help to identify them man in this photograph as I believe he will have information which can assist the investigation.”

Anyone who knows the man’s identity is asked to contact British Transport Police on Freefone 0800 40 50 40, or text 61016. Alternatively, you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers on Freefone 0800 555 111. The reference number for the incident is B3/WWA of 06/08/13.
