Lichfield City FC slipped to a second consecutive league defeat as they were undone by a young Racing Club Warwick side in what was possibly their worst performance during manager Paul Holt’s reign.

The Brownsfield Park boss opted to keep faith with the players who had seen two leads slip in their previous encounter against Bolehall Swifts.

But in a game of very few chances it was the visitors who opened the scoring on 32 minutes as Terence Morton was left to pick his spot and he curled home a 20 yard effort with the help of a deflection off a City defender.

Lichfield had received prior warning with Leigh Phillips striking a post five minutes earlier as a strangely subdued home side failed to penetrate the Warwick defence in a dour first period.

The second half took a familiar pattern has City enjoyed large spells of possession without really troubling away keeper Ryan Bennett. The closest they came to levelling matters was Olly Budd hitting a post late on.

Lichfield travel to Castle Vale on Tuesday night hoping to get their first points on the board. Kick off is at 7.45pm.
