Time is running out for budding Lichfield and Burntwood bakers to enter Lichfield Food Festival’s cupcake competition.

The contest will take place alongside the event, which runs on August 31 and September 1.

The competition features three categories:

  • Junior (ages 4 to 11) – entering four monster-themed cupcakes
  • Middle (ages 12 to 16) – entering six celebration cupcakes that would be their signature creation if they opened a cupcake shop
  • Adult (17 years and over) – – entering six celebration cupcakes that would be their signature creation if they opened a cupcake shop

The top bakers in each category will win vouchers to spend in The Kitchen Shop on Market Street in Lichfield.

Vicky Woolston, dDirector of The Kitchen Shop, said: “We’re really looking forward to seeing how the monster and celebration themes are interpreted, and we wish all the bakers the very best of luck.”

Amateur bakers can enter the Cupcake Competition online by visiting www.lichfieldfood.co.uk. The deadline for entries is August 28 with cupcakes brought to Three Spires Shopping Centre on September 1 between 12 noon and 1pm. Prizes and certificates will be awarded at 4pm.
