Plans to build a wind turbine have been branded “inappropriate” by Lichfield District Council.

Proposals had been drawn up to erect the triple-bladed construction at land on Fisherwick Road.

But the turbine – which would have seen the tip of its blades reach over 86metres – has been rejected.

In a decision notice, Lichfield District Council said: “The proposal represents inappropriate development in the Green Belt, which would detract from its character, appearance and openness.

“It is not considered that the very special circumstances put forward, including the contribution made by the turbine to sustainable energy generation, outweight the harm that would be caused.”

The local authority also said the turbine would have a “dominating and overbearing” impact on neighbouring residents.

Full details of the proposals and the decision notice can be seen on Lichfield District Council’s planning website.
