It’s almost time to unfurl the flags and strike up the band as the final preparations take place for the Lichfield Proms in Beacon Park.
The free event takes place on Saturday (September 7) and will see The City of Lichfield Concert Band kick off the musical entertainment at 6pm with a selection of popular classic and modern show tunes, from ABBA and The Beatles, through to hits from the James Bond films.
This will lead up to the main concert at 7.30pm, featuring The British Police Symphony Orchestra and singers Sarah Ryan and Matthew Kimble.
The event will be compered by the orchestra’s principal percussionist, Danny Mizon, who will take concert-goers through the programme.
The night will end with a rousing rendition of Land of Hope and Glory (Pomp & Circumstance No.1) to fireworks overhead.
Councillor Val Richards said: “Excitement is mounting as we prepare for this year’s Lichfield Proms in Beacon Park.
“With stunning music, picnics under the stars and community cheer, Lichfield Proms promises to be a fantastic evening for the whole family.
“To celebrate fifteen years of the much-loved event, the orchestra has put together a fantastic musical programme of the most popular pieces that have featured across the years. So, make sure you join us for on Saturday for a memorable and magical night.”
