Craig Harris

Craig Harris will be hoping his side’s FA Cup magic can rub-off on their league form as they return to action at Eastwood Town.

The Scholars have endured a poor start to their campaign, but a 3-1 win over Romulus in the cup provided a welcome boost to morale.

And Harris has assured supporters that his side will turn their league season around.

“I can assure you that no-one is more upset than me,” he said in his programme notes ahead of the Romulus game. “But, we will get through this sticky patch if we all stay together.

“I know it’s not been good enough, so do the coaching staff and so do the players.

“I know you are a knowledgeable group of supporters and I am grateful that you have given me your support and ask for your patience to get this right.”

Chasetown will face a familiar place when they travel to Eastwood who are managed by former Scholars player Nick Hawkins.

His side have enjoyed a promising start to the season and find themselves in sixth place.

Hawkins has assembled a squad with considerable experience, including former Doncaster Rovers striker Tristram Whitman and ex-Kidderminster Harriers and Tamworth defender Gavin Hurren, and will be desperate to get one over his old employers.

Kick-off at Eastwood on Saturday (September 7) is at 3pm.
