School meal prices frozen for pupils in Lichfield and Burntwood

School meal prices in Lichfield and Burntwood have been frozen.

County council education bosses have confirmed that primary, special and middle school pupils will pay £2.10, while high school students will continue to pay £2.20.

Cllr Ben Adams, cabinet member for learning and skills, said smarter buying and sourcing food locally had enabled them to keep prices as they were.

“We know how important it is for children and young people to eat well and this price freeze will help support families and mean they can continue to enjoy great value for money nutritious meals,” he added.

“By using local suppliers wherever possible, we can keep food miles down but still provide the high quality meals that parents expect.

“We are still conforming to nutritional standards, but the way in which we procure and provide our services means costs can remain low without compromising on quality.”
