Three arrested in Lichfield after police dog sniffs out drugs in car

Three men have been arrested in Lichfield after drugs were found in a car.

Police stopped a Renault Clio on the Birmingham Road at around 9.45pm on Friday (September 27) in a routine check – but after smelling cannabis the three people in the vehicle were arrested.

When the car was taken to Lichfield Police Station, drugs dog George was brought in and helped to find a “large quantity” of cannabis.

A spokesperson said: “Friday night’s arrests formed part of Operation Nemesis – the force’s ongoing drive to tackle drug dealers and bring them to justice.”

The three men, aged 19, 24 and 27 and from Wolverhampton, have been released on police bail, pending further inquiries, to a date in November.

Anyone with information about drug dealing is asked to call Staffordshire Police on 101 or through the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 111 555.
