Burntwood RUFC’s second string turned in another impressive performance to overwhelm Leek in this club fixture, running in eight tries in the process.

They were strong from the off and the first try was not long in coming. Ollie Whitehouse and Craig Seedhouse made inroads before putting Darryl Organ away for his first try of the afternoon.

Whitehouse was over the whitewash himself soon after the restart for a ten point lead before Ben Tranter showed his lightning pace on the wing to run the third in.

Leek replied with two penalty goals to leave the half time score at 17-6.

In the second period it was the visitors’ turn to make a strong start but the home defence was up to the task and relieved the pressure with some excellent tactical kicking by Seedhouse.

Whitehouse scored his second try of the match, catching the Leek defence off guard with a quickly taken tapped penalty. Then Organ, enjoying his best game for Burntwood so far, added his second try which was almost a carbon copy of his first.

Organ then turned provider by offloading to skipper Dave Ward who charged over from the 22.

With the job done, Burntwood were lax in defence and allowed the visitors to break through some weak tackling for a converted try.

They responded well, despite having a player in the sin bin, to finish the game with two more tries, the first from Luke Rookyard and then Seedhouse capped a fine performance with the last.

Antony Morgan landed five out of eight conversion attempts.

Another highlight of the game was from Tom Hayward who stopped a charging lock forward in his tracks with a superb tackle.
