OBE award for Lichfield pair in New Year’s Honours List

Two people from Lichfield are celebrating after being awarded OBEs in the New Year’s Honours List.

Lynette Hirst received the title for services to taxpayers.

She is head of enforcement and specialist offices in the debt management and banking division of HM Revenue and Customs in Birmingham.

Mrs Hirst is joined by another Lichfield-based HM Revenue and Customs employee in receiving an OBE.

Anthony Stewart was recognised for services to tackling non-tax compliance.

Elsewhere, Staffordshire’s chief fire officer Peter Dartford has been awarded the Queen’s Fire Service Medal, while West Midlands Ambulance Service chief executive, Anthony Marsh, will receive the Queen’s Ambulance Service Medal.

“I am very honoured to have received this award,” Mr Marsh said. “While I have been extremely fortunate to receive it, this is down to the hard work of everyone involved in the ambulance service.

“There is not a day goes by that I do not see or hear about the actions of staff that makes me immensely proud to be part of the ambulance service.”
