People are being asked to help out with period props for a new production by the Lichfield Players.

They will be performing comedy Barefoot in the Park next month and are looking for items including a 1960s fridge and cooker.

Director Gina Martin said: “The play is set in 1960s New York and centres around newly weds Paul and Corrie who, fresh back from honeymoon, are settling into their new high rise apartment and don’t seem to be able to see eye-to-eye – about anything!

“The cast is brilliant, we’re finalising costumes and have a 60s soundtrack that will have audiences toe-tapping and humming along the minute they step into the theatre.

“As all of the action takes place in Paul and Corrie’s flat, having the perfect set would be the icing on the cake.”

Barefoot in the Park was a Broadway smash hit, premiering in 1963 and running for over 1,500 performances making it the tenth longest-running non-musical play in Broadway history.

The Lichfield Players will be bringing their version to the Garrick from July 15 to 19.

Anyone able to support the production with the required props can contact Gina Martin on 01543 319019.
