Gang armed with crowbars strike at supermarket near Lichfield

Armed robbers have taken cash and cigarettes from a supermarket near Lichfield.

The raiders struck at the Co-op on Main Street in Alrewas just after 9.30pm last night (January 22).

Three men – one carrying two crowbars – entered the open store through the front doors, threatened two members of staff and demanded cash.

They took cash from a back office and a cigarettes from behind the shop counter before fleeing into the rear car park. Police believe they then drove off in a small white car.

The man with the crowbars wore a blue hooded top with a white balaclava, while the other two also wore hooded tops with scarves or facial coverings.
