Website showcases Lichfield and Burntwood events commemorating World War One

A new website has been launched to keep Lichfield and Burntwood residents informed about plans to commemorate the First World War.

logoStaffordshire County Council’s archives service has created to help promote events taking place at venues such as the National Memorial Arboretum and the Staffordshire Regiment Museum.

Cllr Mike Lawrence said: “Staffordshire has as good a claim as anywhere in the country to be the national focus for the commemoration of World War One and I’m delighted we’ve been able to bring together our offer in the Staffordshire Great War website.

“We have many wonderful sites and attractions that link us to, and offer poignant reminders of the Great War. We hope that the website gives visitors the opportunity to explore more about the county’s important role during the conflict, while paying tribute to honour those who lost their lives in the war.”

Groups and organisations can also register their events on the website.
